Text Box: The first glimmers of spring have begun to bud here in Wadsworth, Ohio. These “glimmers” are not arriving via the west winds, rather they are magically appearing in our mailboxes. Last week, I braved the snow, ran out to the mailbox, and there it was...the first seed catalog of the year! I love when those colorful pages, full of promise and summer fantasies first appear. I grab a cup of tea, fold down the best pages and mark the spot, as I make plans for what is going to be planted in my garden in a few short months. I dream of the smell of loamy soil, dirt under my fingernails and muddy garden shoes. The real truth Text Box: is, if I were to plant even half of the things that I selected, my small garden plot would be overflowing. If you are fortunate to live where the sun shines most of the year and it’s never cold, I wonder.. is it truly possible for you to appreciate spring as we do in Ohio? During the winter months, while the CropKing employees are all in their offices, trying to keep warm, a new idea is hatched. This new “baby” is the newsletter that you are reading right now. From hatching to the reality, during a company luncheon, we voted on a name suggested by Vivian Lash: The Hydro Vine. This newsletter is for you, our Text Box: growers, customers and friends. We feel that there is a whole store-house of knowledge out there waiting to be shared . While this news is FOR you, we would like to hear FROM you. If you have an idea, article, or even a funny story, please fax it to 330-335-1689 or mail it. to Cropking Inc.,Hydro Vine Ideas, 230 Quadral Dr., Wadsworth, Ohio, 44281. If your contribution is printed in “The Hydro Vine”, Cropking will send you a gift certificate of $50.00 for your efforts. We are sure that with your help, we can make this good idea GREAT!!! We are looking forward to hearing from many of you!
Text Box: there was a case tried in the Wadsworth Municipal Court, where a local horse breeder had 45 horses that had been abused. Their coats were mangy, their hooves overgrown and they were sprouting fungus. Most were under weight, soiled, and patches of their hair were missing. After hearing of the Text Box: Richard Lawless has been an employee of Cropking for 9 wonderful years. He is one of the enthusiastic sales people you speak with when you call. He is a vegetarian and exercises daily. By day, Richard is a Cropking salesperson, by night, he is an advocate for horses that are endangered. In fact, Text Box: story, Richard took action. The farm owned by Richard and his wife Brenda, Victory Horse Farm, took in and cared for 6 of the mistreated horses. Today those same horses are thriving, vibrant, and well cared for animals. We are indeed proud to have Richard Lawless as our first Employee of the Month. Text Box: $50.00 Gift Certificate

Why did the tomato turn red?
Because it saw the salad dressing.
